Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Cocktail glasses
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh strawberries hulled and halved
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 cups crushed ice

Optional garnish: Fresh strawberry and lime wheel

Instructions

  • Add strawberries to the blender and pulse until chopped.
  • Pour in the rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. Then, add the crushed ice.
  • Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and slushy.
  • Pour the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass through a fine mesh strainer if desired.
  • Garnish with a fresh strawberry and lime wheel.

Notes

Fresh strawberries make the best daiquiris. If using frozen berries, reduce the ice by 1/2 cup.
Store-bought simple syrup works well, or make it at home by mixing equal parts sugar and hot water until dissolved.
The cocktail should be thick but still drinkable through a straw. Add more ice for a thicker texture or less for a thinner drink.
Keep ingredients cold before mixing for the best frozen texture.
