  • Large glass pitcher (2-liter capacity)
  • Long wooden spoon for mixing
  • Sharp knife and cutting board
  • Wine glasses for serving
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine-mesh strainer

Ingredients

  • 2 bottles 750ml each dry Spanish red wine
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 2 oranges sliced
  • 2 lemons sliced
  • 2 limes sliced
  • 2 peaches or nectarines cut into wedges
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries halved
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups club soda optional

Instructions

  • Wash and slice all fruits into thin pieces.
  • Add fruit slices and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher.
  • Pour the fruits, wine, brandy, triple sec, and simple syrup into the pitcher.
  • Stir gently with a wooden spoon to mix ingredients.
  • Cover and place in the fridge for 4-24 hours to let flavors blend.
  • Before serving, taste and add more simple syrup if needed.
  • Add club soda just before serving if desired.
  • Pour into ice-filled glasses, making sure each glass gets some fruit.

Notes

Store sangria in the fridge for up to 48 hours. The fruit will get softer the longer it soaks.
For best results, use fresh, ripe seasonal fruits. In summer, add peaches and berries. In winter, use apples and pears.
Choose a medium-bodied Spanish red wine like Rioja or Tempranillo. Avoid expensive wines, as the fruit and mixers will change the taste.
Keep the pitcher cold during serving by placing it in a bowl of ice.
