  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wine glasses for serving
  • Ice bucket

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle 750ml dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave nectar
  • 1 green apple cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 pear cored and diced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 lime thinly sliced

  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
  • Pick a crisp dry white wine that isn't too expensive.

Instructions

  • Slice all fruit and add to the pitcher.
  • Pour brandy over the fruit and add honey or agave nectar.
  • Stir gently to combine and help dissolve the sweetener.
  • Add the entire bottle of white wine to the pitcher.
  • Stir again to mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 4-6 hours, to let the flavors blend.
  • Just before serving, add ice cubes and optional sparkling water for fizz.
  • Stir once more and serve in wine glasses.
  • Garnish each glass with a sprig of fresh mint.

Notes

You can prepare this sangria up to 24 hours in advance. The longer it sits, the more the fruit flavors infuse into the wine.
For stronger fruit flavor, gently press some of the fruit with a wooden spoon before serving.
For a less alcoholic version, reduce the brandy to 2 tablespoons and add more sparkling water.
You can substitute other fruits based on what's in season. Peaches and nectarines work well in summer.
Store leftover sangria in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The fruit may soften too much after the first day.
