Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Tall glass
  • Ice
  • Strainer
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon

Ingredients

For one cocktail, gather:

  • 2 oz pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Pomegranate seeds and mint sprig for garnish

Use fresh ingredients for the best taste. Bottled pomegranate juice works fine, but fresh-squeezed is even better if you have it. Good quality vodka makes a difference too.

Instructions

  • Put mint leaves and simple syrup in the shaker. Then, muddle gently to release mint oils.
  • Add pomegranate juice, vodka, and ice to the shaker. Shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice. Then, strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Top with club soda. Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with pomegranate seeds and a mint sprig.
  • Serve right away while it’s cold and bubbly.

The bright red color looks great in a clear glass.

    Notes

You can adjust this recipe to your taste. For a stronger drink, add more vodka. For less alcohol, use more club soda.
Try making a big batch for parties. Just multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you want. Mix everything except the club soda in a pitcher. Add soda to each glass when serving.
For a non-alcoholic version, skip the vodka and use more pomegranate juice or soda water instead.
This drink is best enjoyed fresh. The mint can turn brown if left too long.
