This fresh and fruity sangria combines sweet pomegranate juice with red wine and fresh fruit for a perfect party drink. The recipe makes 6-8 servings and takes just 10 minutes to prepare.
1bottle750ml dry red wine (Rioja or Tempranillo work best)
2cupspure pomegranate juice
1/2cupbrandy
1/3cuptriple sec
1orangesliced
1applecored and diced
1cuppomegranate arils
2cupscold club soda
Ice for serving
Optional: Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
Wash and slice the orange into thin rounds. Core and dice the apple into 1/2-inch cubes.
Pour the wine, pomegranate juice, brandy, and triple sec into the pitcher. Stir to combine.
Add the orange slices, diced apple, and pomegranate arils to the pitcher.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 8 hours to let the flavors blend.
Just before serving, add the club soda and stir gently.
Fill wine glasses with ice and pour the sangria. Make sure to include some fruit in each glass.
Notes
The sangria can be made up to 24 hours in advance without the club soda. Store in the fridge.For a less strong drink, reduce the brandy to 1/4 cup.Choose ripe, sweet fruit for the best flavor. Pears or plums make good substitutes for apples.The recipe doubles easily for larger groups. Just use two bottles of wine and double all other ingredients.
