  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Muddler
  • Collins glass or copper mug

Ingredients

For one cocktail:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3-4 large marshmallows
  • 4-5 oz ginger beer
  • Ice
  • Garnish: Lime wheel and toasted marshmallow

Use good quality vodka for the best taste. Fresh lime juice is better than bottled. Pick a spicy ginger beer for more kick. Large marshmallows work best for muddling.

Instructions

  • Put marshmallows in the shaker and muddle until broken up.
  • Add vodka, lime juice, and ice to the shaker. Shake hard for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into an ice-filled glass or mug.
  • Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel and toasted marshmallow on a skewer.

To toast the marshmallow, use a kitchen torch or hold it over a flame until golden brown. Be careful not to burn it.

    Notes

    This drink is sweet from the marshmallows. For less sweetness, use fewer marshmallows or add more lime juice.
    The recipe can be doubled or tripled to make a pitcher for parties. Mix the vodka, lime, and muddled marshmallows ahead of time. Add ginger beer just before serving.
    Try different flavored marshmallows like vanilla or strawberry for new taste combos. You can also swap the vodka for rum or tequila.
