Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Margarita or rocks glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz mango puree or nectar
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur like Cointreau
  • 1/4 to 1/2 fresh jalapeño sliced
  • 1/2 oz agave nectar or simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Salt for rim optional
  • Mango slice and jalapeño ring for garnish

Use good quality tequila for the best flavor. Fresh lime juice makes a big difference compared to bottled. Adjust the amount of jalapeño based on your spice preference.

Instructions

  • If desired, rim a glass with salt. Set aside.
  • Add jalapeño slices to the shaker and muddle gently.
  • Pour in tequila, lime juice, mango puree, orange liqueur, and agave nectar.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 10-15 seconds.
  • Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice.
  • Strain the cocktail into the glass.
  • Garnish with a mango slice and jalapeño ring.

Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as needed. For a smoother drink, double strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove jalapeño bits.

    Notes

This recipe makes one cocktail. To serve a crowd, multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks needed.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace tequila with extra mango puree and add a splash of club soda.
Be careful when handling jalapeños. Wear gloves or wash hands well after cutting. Remove seeds for less heat.
Store leftover mango puree in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for later use.
