Equipment

  • Hurricane glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice cubes
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Malibu coconut rum or any coconut liqueur
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • 0.5 oz lime juice fresh is best
  • grenadine splash, for color
  • 2-3 oz ginger ale to top
  • ice cubes
  • 0.5 oz dark rum optional, floated on top
  • lime wedge or pineapple slice garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add Malibu coconut rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, and lime juice.
  • Shake well for about 10 seconds until chilled.
  • Strain into a hurricane glass packed with fresh ice.
  • Top slowly with ginger ale to keep the fizz lively.
  • Drizzle grenadine down the side so it settles at the bottom.
  • Optional: Float dark rum on top using a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge or pineapple slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Equal parts pineapple and orange juice balance the drink. Fresh lime juice keeps it bright. Float dark rum for extra kick; add more ginger ale for a lighter drink. Cold juices make the drink less diluted. Always add ginger ale last for best fizz!
