Notes
Fresh ingredients make a big difference in this drink. Use newly squeezed lemon juice rather than bottled. The basil leaves should be fresh and bright green. Avoid using wilted or brown leaves.Store simple syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. For a stronger basil flavor, infuse the simple syrup with basil leaves ahead of time. This recipe works well with both traditional London dry gin and more floral botanical gins.
