Ingredients
4green tea bags
4cupsfiltered water
1/2cupfresh lemon juiceabout 4-5 lemons
3tablespoonshoney or agave nectar
2cupssparkling waterchilled
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
Boil water and let it cool for 2 minutes to reach 175°F (80°C).
Add green tea bags to the hot water and steep for 3 minutes. Remove bags and let tea cool to room temperature.
Mix honey into the warm tea until it dissolves completely.
Pour tea mixture into a large pitcher.
Add fresh lemon juice and stir well.
Just before serving, add sparkling water and stir gently.
Fill glasses with ice cubes.
Pour the mixture into glasses and garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices.
Notes
The tea base can be made up to 24 hours ahead and stored in the fridge.Add sparkling water right before serving to maintain the fizz.For a sweeter drink, add more honey one teaspoon at a time.Replace regular ice cubes with green tea ice cubes to prevent dilution.Fresh lemon juice works best - avoid bottled alternatives.
