Temperature affects the taste. Serve very cold for the best drinking experience. The flavors blend better after the drink sits for 1-2 minutes.
Substitute
Need to switch up the ingredients? Green tea can be swapped with jasmine or white tea. These will give a light and refreshing taste similar to green tea.
No lemon? Try lime, orange, or grapefruit juice instead. Each citrus fruit adds its own bright flavor to the drink.
Replace sparkling water with club soda or tonic water. Note: Tonic water contains sugar and will make the drink sweeter.
For a sugar-free version, swap honey with stevia or monk fruit sweetener. Start with small amounts and adjust to taste.
Other tea options:
- Oolong tea
- Chamomile tea
- Mint tea
- Rooibos tea
Fresh mint leaves work well in place of basil. They add a cool, crisp note to the drink.
Want extra bubbles? Add a splash of ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. This will make the drink sweeter, so use less honey.
