I use fresh ginger, crisp apple juice, and sparkling water to make a drink that's light, refreshing, and not too sweet.
This recipe walks through what you need, how to put everything together, and tips for making it just right.
2ozabout 1/4 cup fresh apple juice (unsweetened preferred)
1oz2 tablespoons ginger syrup (store-bought or homemade)
1/2oz1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2ozabout 1/4 cup sparkling water or club soda
1 1/2ozabout 3 tablespoons vodka
Ice cubes
Apple slices or thin strips of fresh gingerfor garnish
Instructions
Fill your serving glass with ice cubes halfway.
Add apple juice, ginger syrup, and lemon juice to your shaker.
If using vodka, add it now.
Seal the shaker and shake for about 15 seconds.
Strain the mix into the glass over the ice.
Pour sparkling water slowly into the glass so it stays fizzy.
Stir gently with a spoon to combine.
Garnish with an apple slice or fresh ginger strip on the rim.
Shaking the mix first helps combine the flavors.
Notes
I like to make ginger syrup at home by simmering equal parts water, sugar, and chopped ginger for 10-15 minutes, then straining it.Store-bought works too.For a sweeter drink, use sweetened apple juice or add extra syrup. For less sweetness, cut back on syrup or use more soda. For a non-alcoholic drink, skip the vodka.Serve this cocktail right away for the best texture and fizz.If using pre-made juice, shake it first so it's not settled or dull.Fresh citrus and garnish boost the aroma.
