Ingredients

  • 2 oz 60ml London Dry gin
  • 4-5 oz 120-150ml tonic water
  • 1 lime or lemon wedge
  • Ice cubes

Optional: Additional citrus wheels or cucumber slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a highball glass to the top with ice cubes.
  • Pour 2 oz of gin over the ice.
  • Add tonic water slowly to prevent excess fizzing.
  • Gently stir 2-3 times with a bar spoon to combine.
  • Squeeze a fresh lime or lemon wedge into the drink.
  • Drop the citrus wedge into the glass or use it as a garnish on the rim.

Notes

The quality of both gin and tonic water affects the final taste. Premium tonic water makes a big difference.
Keep tonic water cold before mixing for the best carbonation.
A 1:2 ratio of gin to tonic works best for most people. Adjust to taste.
Fresh ice cubes are important - old ice can add off-flavors.
Replace lime with cucumber, grapefruit, or orange for different flavor profiles.
