Classic Prosecco Spritz Cocktail Recipe

Classic Prosecco Spritz Cocktail Recipe
The Classic Prosecco Spritz is one of those Italian cocktails that’s known for its crisp taste and that unmistakable orange glow. I mix sparkling prosecco, a bitter liqueur, and soda water for a balanced, stylish drink you can whip up at home.

Equipment

  • Large wine glass or balloon glass: I reach for a 12-16 oz glass so there’s room for plenty of ice and liquid.
  • Measuring jigger: Makes it easy to pour the right amount of each ingredient.
  • Bar spoon: Handy for gently stirring things together.
  • Ice scoop or tongs: Keeps the ice clean—plus, it’s just tidier.
  • Citrus peeler or knife: Great for slicing or twisting some orange for garnish.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz prosecco chilled
  • 2 oz Aperol or any bitter orange liqueur
  • 1 oz club soda chilled
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 fresh orange slice garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your wine glass about three-quarters of the way with ice cubes.
  • Pour in 2 oz Aperol over the ice.
  • Slowly add 3 oz of chilled prosecco.
  • Top it off with 1 oz of chilled club soda.
  • Give it a gentle stir with your bar spoon—just enough to mix, but don’t kill the bubbles.
  • Finish with a fresh orange slice, either on the rim or floating right in.

Notes

I’d recommend a dry prosecco—it cuts through the sweetness of the liqueur nicely. If I’m in the mood for a stronger drink, I’ll add more prosecco and dial back the club soda.
Lots of ice is key, otherwise it gets watered down as the ice melts. The classic garnish is an orange slice, but sometimes I’ll do a twist for a bigger burst of aroma.
For a more bitter edge, I’ll swap in Campari for Aperol, but keep the rest the same. I always serve this right away, while it’s cold and fresh.
