  • Mixing spoon
  • Strainer
  • Tall glass or mason jar
  • Citrus juicer
  • Stirring stick or straw

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup pure
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground clove optional
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 5 oz sparkling water or soda water
  • ice cubes
  • cinnamon stick for stirring/garnish
  • lemon slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Add maple syrup, ground cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and vanilla extract to a small saucepan. Warm gently on low, stirring until blended.
  • Take off heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and squeeze in lemon juice.
  • Pour cooled maple cinnamon syrup over the ice.
  • Top with sparkling water. Stir with a cinnamon stick or straw.
  • Garnish with a lemon slice and the cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Notes

Fresh lemon juice brightens the drink. Ginger beer can be swapped for soda for extra spice. Adjust maple syrup for sweetness. Serve right away so it stays fizzy and cold. Cinnamon stick does double duty as a stirrer and garnish.
