  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Glasses (margarita or rocks glasses work well)

Ingredients

For 2 cocktails:

  • 4 oz tequila silver or blanco
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz blueberry syrup recipe below
  • 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 4-6 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Ice
  • Salt for rimming glasses optional
  • Fresh blueberries and thyme sprigs for garnish

Blueberry syrup:

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

Make the blueberry syrup:

  • Combine blueberries, sugar, and water in a small pot.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Strain and let cool.
  • Rim glasses with salt if desired. Fill with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle 2-3 thyme sprigs.
  • Add tequila, lime juice, blueberry syrup, triple sec, and ice to the shaker.
  • Shake well for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into prepared glasses.
  • Garnish with fresh blueberries and a sprig of thyme.

Notes

This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled for larger groups.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace tequila and triple sec with lemon-lime soda or sparkling water.
The blueberry syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
Fresh thyme works best, but dried thyme can be used in a pinch. Use about 1/4 teaspoon per cocktail.
Try different berries like raspberries or blackberries for tasty variations. You can also experiment with other herbs such as basil or mint.
