Ingredients

  • 3 oz prosecco
  • 2 oz fresh blood orange juice
  • 1 oz soda water
  • Ice cubes
  • Blood orange wheel for garnish
  • Fresh rosemary sprig optional

Instructions

  • Fill a champagne flute or wine glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the fresh blood orange juice into the glass.
  • Add the prosecco slowly to prevent overflow.
  • Top with soda water and stir gently with a cocktail spoon.
  • Garnish with a blood orange wheel and rosemary sprig if desired.

Notes

The best blood oranges for this recipe are Moro or Tarocco varieties. These types have the deepest red color and sweet-tart flavor.
Fresh-squeezed juice makes a big difference in taste. Squeeze the oranges right before mixing the drink.
Keep all ingredients cold before mixing. Room temperature prosecco will reduce the bubbles.
This recipe serves one person. Double or triple the amounts to make multiple drinks.
The cocktail can be made with regular oranges when blood oranges aren't in season.
