Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Collins glass or copper mug
  • Ice

Ingredients

For one Blackberry Bramble Mule, gather:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 6-8 fresh blackberries
  • 4-5 oz ginger beer
  • Ice
  • Mint sprig and lime wedge for garnish

Fresh ingredients make the best cocktails. Use ripe blackberries and freshly squeezed lime juice. Good quality vodka improves the taste. Meanwhile, ginger beer adds fizz and spice.

Instructions

  • Add blackberries to the shaker and muddle gently.
  • Pour in vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain into an ice-filled glass.
  • Top with ginger beer and stir lightly.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wedge.
  • Muddle blackberries just enough to release juice without making pulp.

Shake ingredients well to mix and chill. Then, pour gently to keep the fizz in the ginger beer.

    Notes

This recipe works well with other berries too. Try raspberries or blueberries for a twist.
Adjust the simple syrup to taste, depending on the sweetness of your fruit. For a stronger ginger flavor, use less ginger beer.
You can also make a non-alcoholic version by skipping the vodka and adding more ginger beer.
Serve in a copper mug to keep the drink colder longer. The Blackberry Bramble Mule tastes best when enjoyed right away.
