Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Cocktail glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need to mix up an Apricot Whisky Sour:

  • 2 oz 60 ml whisky
  • 1 oz 30 ml apricot liqueur
  • 1 oz 30 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz 15 ml simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Optional: 1/2 oz 15 ml egg white
  • Garnish: Lemon wheel and maraschino cherry

Use a good quality whisky like bourbon or rye. Fresh lemon juice tastes best. You can make simple syrup by mixing equal parts sugar and hot water.

Instructions

Follow these steps to make an Apricot Whisky Sour:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add whisky, apricot liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  • If you're using it, add the egg white.
  • Shake hard for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with a lemon wheel and cherry.

For a frothy texture, shake the drink without ice first. Then add ice and shake again before straining.

    Notes

The Apricot Whisky Sour is best enjoyed fresh. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace the whisky and liqueur with apricot juice and a splash of lemon-lime soda.
This recipe makes one cocktail. To serve a crowd, multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks needed.
