Looking for a drink that’s both fun and alcohol-free? You might want to check out my Spiced Grapefruit Soda Mocktail.
This cool mocktail brings together the tang of grapefruit and a hint of warming spices. It’s honestly perfect for hot afternoons or just hanging out with friends.
I like that it’s so easy to throw together at home—no need to grab those overly sweet store-bought sodas with all the weird flavors.
The real magic here is in the fresh stuff and those simple spices you probably already have. If you’re after something a bit different, this one’s got a sweet, tart, and spicy kick in every sip.
It’s just a good way to enjoy something special, minus the alcohol.
Spiced Grapefruit Soda Mocktail Recipe
I wanted this recipe to be as simple as possible, but still feel like a treat. Tangy grapefruit, a little spice, some bubbles—it comes together fast.
Equipment
- Tall glass for serving (like a highball glass)
- Cocktail shaker (or a mason jar with a lid works too)
- Measuring jigger or tablespoon
- Bar spoon or regular spoon for stirring
- Citrus juicer (manual or electric)
- Fine mesh strainer (if fresh juice has pulp)
- Small saucepan (if making rosemary simple syrup)
- Knife and cutting board (for slicing grapefruit and lime)
- Ice cube tray and tongs
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup fresh pink grapefruit juice (or bottled, no sugar added)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh squeezed gives best flavor)
- 2-3 teaspoons honey or agave syrup (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon rosemary simple syrup (optional for extra flavor)
- Pinch of ground cinnamon (or you can muddle a tiny bit of star anise or clove)
- 1/2 cup sparkling water or seltzer
- 1/4 cup grapefruit soda (optional if you want more sweet-tart flavor)
- Ice cubes
- Grapefruit slice and lime wedge for garnish
- 2-3 mint leaves (for garnish and extra aroma)
Instructions
- Fill your glass halfway with ice cubes.
- In a shaker, combine grapefruit juice, lime juice, honey or agave, rosemary simple syrup, and the pinch of cinnamon.
- Shake well for about 10 seconds to mix and chill the liquid.
- Strain the mixture into your prepared glass.
- Top off the glass with sparkling water and, if using, a splash of grapefruit soda.
- Stir gently to blend the flavors.
- Add a slice of grapefruit, a wedge of lime, and a few mint leaves to garnish.
Notes
Pink grapefruit is my go-to—it’s sweeter and the color’s just better. If you want it less sweet, skip the grapefruit soda and stick with sparkling water.
Honey gives a cozy flavor, but agave syrup totally works if you want something lighter.
Rosemary simple syrup is honestly no big deal to make: simmer equal parts water and sugar with a sprig of rosemary for a few minutes, cool, strain, done. No rosemary? No problem, the drink’s still tasty.
If you’re craving more spice, add a pinch of nutmeg or muddle a clove. Tweak the sweetener if your grapefruit juice is super tart.
Serve it cold, toss in some fresh herbs, and enjoy.

Tasting Notes
The first sip of this spiced grapefruit soda mocktail? It’s bright, zesty, and honestly a little surprising. The grapefruit flavor really pops, but it’s not too sour—just enough to wake up your taste buds.
There’s a touch of spice in there that keeps things interesting. Not too much, just a warm hint that lingers in the background.
Sometimes, I notice a bit of sweetness from the syrup and fruit juice. That gentle sweetness balances out the tartness in a way I find pretty satisfying.
If I toss in some strawberries, it gives off a vibe kind of like a strawberry-grapefruit mocktail—fruity, a little tangy, and honestly pretty fun.
Drinking it cold over ice just makes it feel extra refreshing. The bubbles? They really make the flavors come alive.
I appreciate that it doesn’t taste heavy or sticky at all. That makes it easy to keep sipping.
Every now and then, if I add a fresh garnish like mint, I catch a faint herbal note. The aftertaste stays pretty clean, so I’m usually ready for another sip right away.
This mocktail always reminds me of summer, but honestly, I’ll reach for it whenever I want something light and flavorful.
