I’m sharing my cherry limeade spritzer cocktail recipe because it’s an easy way to make a sweet, refreshing drink at home. This spritzer mixes cherry and lime flavors with fizzy soda for a light and tasty cocktail you can serve year-round.
I like how simple the recipe is. You can prepare it quickly with a few store-bought items and a little fresh lime juice.
This drink is a good choice for parties, summer afternoons, or whenever you want something a little different.
Cherry Limeade Spritzer Cocktail Recipe
Equipment
- A cocktail shaker or a mason jar with a tight lid is helpful for quickly mixing the liquids and ice.
- If I want to serve it to guests, I also use a strainer to remove any pulp, seeds, or ice chips before pouring the drink into glasses.
- A citrus juicer or hand squeezer makes extracting juice from fresh limes much quicker and cleaner.
- For presentation, I prefer highball or Collins glasses because they hold ice and show off the colorful drink.
Ingredients
The core ingredients I use are easy to find and well-balanced.
- I need cherry juice about 2 ounces, preferably 100% juice for a bold flavor.
- Fresh lime juice about 1 ounce adds sharpness and freshness. I pick ripe, juicy limes so each squeeze makes a difference.
- For sweetness I use simple syrup—usually about half an ounce, but I adjust to taste.
- My favorite base spirit is vodka 1 ½ ounces because it keeps the flavors clean, but white rum or gin also work well if I want a little twist.
- For fizz I pour in chilled sparkling water or club soda (about 4 ounces).
- I always put extra cherry and lime wedges aside for garnish which adds a fresh look and a little more aroma to each glass.
Instructions
- First, I fill a shaker or jar halfway with ice. I then pour in the cherry juice, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and vodka (or my choice of spirit).
- After adding all liquids except the sparkling water, I shake the mix for 10 seconds to chill it. Next, I strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice.
- I add the sparkling water last, pouring gently to keep the bubbles. If I want a stronger cherry flavor, I sometimes muddle a few fresh cherries in the glass before adding ice.
- Then, I stir gently to combine everything. I finish by garnishing with a lime wheel and a cherry.

Tasting Notes
I notice the first sip is very refreshing. The lime stands out right away, offering a sharp citrus flavor that wakes up my taste buds.
The cherry adds a soft, sweet layer to balance the tartness. The bubbles from the spritzer give a light and fizzy feeling.
This lifts the drink and makes it feel bright rather than heavy or syrupy. I taste both natural cherry and real lime, without anything feeling fake or too strong.
The level of sweetness is mild. I do not find it overwhelming.
The drink is cool and a bit tangy, which makes each sip pleasant. I smell both cherry and lime when I take a drink.
The aroma matches what I taste. It’s a simple, clear flavor that does not linger long but leaves my mouth feeling clean.
This cocktail is easy to drink and works well for warm days. I can enjoy it without feeling weighed down.
Substitute
Sometimes I just don’t have every ingredient sitting around. For cherry juice, cranberry juice or pomegranate juice usually work fine. Both have that tart, fruity kick and the color’s close enough.
If limeade isn’t in the fridge, I reach for fresh lime juice and mix it with a bit of simple syrup. It’s a quick fix and keeps the drink balanced.
Making it non-alcoholic? I skip the vodka and pour in sparkling water or lemon-lime soda instead. Still bubbly, still fun—just no booze.
