Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon cubes seedless
  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup or agave syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Sea salt or chili powder for glass rim
  • Garnish: small watermelon wedge lime slice, or fresh mint
  • Optional: 1 jalapeño slice for a spicy kick
  • Frozen version: Use frozen watermelon cubes and extra ice

Instructions

  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it in salt or chili powder. Set aside.
  • Blend watermelon cubes until smooth, then strain to remove pulp.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 1 oz lime juice, ½ oz syrup, and 2 oz watermelon juice.
  • Add ice and shake well until chilled (about 15 seconds).
  • Strain into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a watermelon wedge or lime slice.
  • (Optional) For spice, muddle a jalapeño slice in the shaker before adding liquids.
  • (For frozen) Blend frozen watermelon with other ingredients and ice until slushy.
