  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 8 cups cubed watermelon about half a medium watermelon
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice 6-8 limes
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave nectar
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint leaves for garnish
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Optional: Sparkling water for extra fizz

Instructions

  • Cut the watermelon into 1-inch cubes. Remove any black seeds.
  • Place the watermelon chunks in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher.
  • Squeeze the limes to get 1 cup of juice.
  • Add lime juice and honey to the pitcher. Stir until honey dissolves.
  • Pour in cold water and mix well.
  • Taste and add more honey if needed.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  • Pour the mixture into glasses.
  • Add mint leaves and lime slices on top.

Notes

The drink stays fresh in the fridge for up to 2 days. Stir before serving as ingredients may settle.
For best results, use ripe, sweet watermelon. A good watermelon should feel heavy and make a hollow sound when tapped.
You can freeze leftover watermelon juice in ice cube trays. These cubes work great in place of regular ice.
If you want fizz, add sparkling water right before serving. Mix 1 part sparkling water with 2 parts watermelon limeade.
