Equipment

  • Tall cocktail glass (12-14 oz)
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Ice bucket
  • Citrus juicer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz premium vodka
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice fresh-squeezed preferred
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the vodka into the glass.
  • Add pineapple juice and orange juice.
  • Slowly pour the grenadine down the inside of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a layered effect.
  • Do not stir the drink. The grenadine will naturally create the sunrise gradient.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Notes

The drink works best with chilled juices and plenty of ice.
Fresh-squeezed orange juice makes a noticeable difference in taste compared to store-bought.
Keep the glass steady when adding grenadine to maintain the layered effect.
Store leftover juices in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
This recipe serves one person and takes about 5 minutes to prepare.
