Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 0.5 oz grenadine
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill the highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour tequila, coconut rum, pineapple juice, and orange juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Shake for 10-15 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
  • Then, slowly pour the grenadine down the inside of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating the sunrise effect.
  • Do not stir the drink - let the colors naturally blend.
  • Finally, garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Notes

Use fresh-squeezed orange juice for the best flavor.
Store grenadine in the refrigerator after opening.
The drink can be made without coconut rum for a more traditional version.
Make sure to pour the grenadine slowly to achieve distinct color layers.
Serve immediately while cold and before the layers fully mix together.
