Measuring cups
Ice cube tray
Long spoon for stirring.
Jigger or shot glass for measuring
Cocktail shaker (optional)
Ingredients
4ozpineapple juicechilled
2ozorange juicefresh-squeezed
1/2ozgrenadine syrup
Ice cubes
Orange slice for garnish
Maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes to the top.
Pour the chilled pineapple juice into the glass.
Add the orange juice slowly by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Then, gently pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a gradient effect.
Do not stir the drink, as this will ruin the layered effect.
Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
Notes
The drink tastes best when served right away. The juices should be very cold for the best layering effect.Fresh-squeezed juices will give the best flavor, though store-bought works too.For a more pronounced color gradient, let the grenadine settle for 30 seconds before serving.Kids love watching the colors change as the grenadine sinks to the bottom of the glass. The recipe makes one serving and takes about 5 minutes to prepare.
