Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Hurricane glass or tall glass
  • Ice
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Knife and cutting board for garnish

Ingredients

  • 1 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1 oz banana liqueur
  • 1 oz blackberry liqueur
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • Orange slice and cherry for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  • Pour both rums, banana liqueur, and blackberry liqueur into the shaker.
  • Add orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine.
  • Shake well for 10-15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
  • Fill a hurricane glass with fresh ice cubes.
  • Strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Notes

The drink should have a layered look with the grenadine settling at the bottom.
Best served fresh and cold. The recipe makes one serving.
For a stronger drink, add an extra 1/2 oz of dark rum as a floater on top.
Replace blackberry liqueur with raspberry liqueur if needed.
Store unused fruit juices in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
