Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Highball or collins glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Small plate and salt
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 2 oz fresh pineapple juice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 3 oz grapefruit soda or sparkling grapefruit juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup optional
  • ice cubes
  • salt for rim, optional
  • grapefruit wedge or pineapple slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip in salt if desired.
  • Fill the glass halfway with ice.
  • Add tequila, pineapple juice, and lime juice to a shaker with ice.
  • Shake for about 10 seconds.
  • Strain into your prepared glass.
  • Top with grapefruit soda and gently stir.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge or pineapple slice.

Notes

Chill your glass ahead for best results. No grapefruit soda? Mix grapefruit juice and club soda. Freeze pineapple chunks for use as ice cubes to boost flavor.
