Equipment

  • Tall Collins glass
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice scoop
  • Cocktail strainer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 4 oz fresh orange juice
  • ½ oz grenadine syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slice and cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a Collins glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the tequila into the glass.
  • Add fresh orange juice and stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a gradient effect.
  • Do not stir after adding grenadine, as this will mix the layers together.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.

Notes

Fresh-squeezed orange juice works best for this recipe.
Store grenadine in the refrigerator after opening.
The drink can be served without ice for a stronger gradient effect.
For best results, pour the grenadine very slowly to maintain distinct layers.
The drink should be served right away to keep the layered effect intact.
