Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Ice

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need to make one Tequila Sunrise Spritz:

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 1 oz orange juice freshly squeezed if possible
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
  • 2-3 oz prosecco or other sparkling wine
  • Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish
  • Ice cubes

For a non-alcoholic version, replace the tequila with extra orange juice and use sparkling water instead of prosecco.

Instructions

Follow these steps to make your Tequila Sunrise Spritz:

  • Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the tequila and orange juice over the ice.
  • Stir gently to combine.
  • Slowly pour the grenadine over the back of a spoon so it sinks to the bottom of the glass.
  • Top with prosecco.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
  • Serve right away and enjoy!

The drink will naturally mix as you sip, creating a gradient effect from red at the bottom to orange at the top.

    Notes

This recipe is easy to adjust based on your taste. Here are some tips:
Use more or less prosecco to change the strength of the drink.
Try different types of tequila to alter the flavor. Silver tequila gives a crisp taste, while aged tequila adds depth.
Make your own grenadine syrup for a fresher taste. Mix equal parts pomegranate juice and sugar, then heat until the sugar dissolves.
For a sweeter drink, add a splash of simple syrup.
Always drink responsibly and be aware of your limits. This cocktail can be stronger than it tastes due to the mix of tequila and sparkling wine.
