Tequila Sunrise Punch Cocktail Recipe

Tequila Sunrise Punch Cocktail Recipe
I make Tequila Sunrise Punch when I want a colorful, easy party drink. It looks gorgeous and tastes sweet and refreshing, thanks to that mix of orange juice, grenadine, and tequila.

Equipment

  • For this recipe, I grab a large pitcher or drink dispenser to mix and serve the punch. A long stirrer or even just a wooden spoon helps blend everything evenly.
  • I measure the ingredients with a jigger or standard measuring cups. To pour for guests, I need several glasses—tall ones are my favorite since they show off those layers.
  • Ice cubes keep each serving cold. Sometimes, if I’m feeling fancy, I use a citrus juicer for fresh orange juice.
  • A ladle is handy if I’m serving from a punch bowl. For garnish, I keep a sharp knife and a small cutting board nearby. These little things make the process smoother and keep my kitchen less chaotic.

Ingredients

Tequila Sunrise Punch needs these main ingredients:

  • 2 cups silver tequila
  • 4 cups orange juice fresh or from a jug
  • 1 cup grenadine syrup
  • 1/4 cup lime juice optional for extra tartness
  • 2 cups club soda or lemon-lime soda
  • Ice cubes

For garnishing, I use:

  • Orange slices
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Lime wheels optional

Instructions

  • First, I fill a large pitcher halfway with ice cubes so the punch stays cold but doesn’t get watery right away. Then I pour in the tequila and orange juice, stirring well with a long spoon.
  • If I’m in the mood for something tangier, this is where I add the lime juice. Next, I add the club soda or lemon-lime soda and stir gently—gotta keep those bubbles.
  • Slowly, I pour grenadine syrup into the pitcher. It sinks right to the bottom and gives that sunrise effect.
  • I serve the punch right away. To serve, I pour into tall glasses and let the grenadine settle for a few seconds.
  • Then I garnish each glass with an orange slice and a cherry. If I’m not serving it immediately, I wait to add ice until just before serving so it stays nice and cold.

Notes

When I make this punch, I always use freshly squeezed orange juice if I have the time. It just makes the drink taste brighter and less sugary than bottled juice.
I adjust the tequila depending on who’s drinking—sometimes a little more, sometimes less. I chill the punch ingredients before mixing so the ice doesn’t melt as fast and water everything down.
If I’m making it in advance, I wait to add grenadine and soda until just before serving. That way, the colors stay clear and the bubbles fresh.
For a non-alcoholic version, I just skip the tequila and add more soda or orange juice. The punch is still colorful and fun for kids or anyone skipping alcohol.
Sometimes I’ll toss in extra fruit slices or a splash of pineapple juice to mix things up. Why not?
