  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Heat-proof mugs or glasses
  • Small sieve or strainer
  • Bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple cider unfiltered preferred
  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 2 slices lemon thin slices
  • 1 tbsp agave syrup or honey
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon plus more if desired
  • 0.25 tsp ground allspice optional
  • extra cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  • Pour apple cider into a medium saucepan.
  • Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, lemon slices, allspice, and agave.
  • Warm over low-medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat once steaming.
  • Strain out the cinnamon stick, cloves, and lemon slices.
  • Pour 1 oz tequila into each mug.
  • Top with the hot, spiced cider and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a dusting of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Add apple slices or star anise for extra flavor and presentation. Sweeten to taste with more agave or honey. For a stronger drink, increase the tequila slightly. Avoid boiling the cider to keep flavors fresh. Double the recipe for a crowd and keep warm in a slow cooker.
