Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Muddler
  • Bar spoon
  • Collins glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco or silver tequila
  • 1 oz cherry syrup or maraschino cherry juice
  • 0.5 oz Cointreau or triple sec
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.25 oz simple syrup optional, if you want it sweeter
  • 2 oz cherryade or club soda
  • Ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • Fresh cherries or lime wedges, for garnish
  • grenadine syrup a splash, for color (optional)

Instructions

  • Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add the tequila, cherry syrup, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  • Shake for 10–15 seconds, or until the shaker feels cold on the outside.
  • Pack a Collins glass (or any tall glass) with fresh ice cubes.
  • Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass.
  • Top with cherryade or club soda.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine without knocking out too much fizz.
  • Add a splash of grenadine if you want a richer red color.
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry or a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

Blanco tequila keeps the drink bright and crisp, while reposado will make it slightly richer and smoother. Fresh lime juice makes a big difference in keeping the drink sharp and refreshing.
Adjust the sweetness with the simple syrup—add more if you prefer a sweeter cocktail, or skip it entirely if your cherry syrup and grenadine are already quite sweet.
Serve the cocktail cold and enjoy it soon after mixing so the soda stays bubbly and the flavors remain lively.
