Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum or light rum
  • 1 oz fresh tangerine juice
  • 2-3 tangerine slices
  • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 mint sprig for garnish
  • 1 oz simple syrup or 2 tsp sugar
  • club soda to top
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Place mint leaves and tangerine slices into a highball glass.
  • Gently muddle to release the oils and juices.
  • Add lime juice, simple syrup, and white rum.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker and lightly shake.
  • Strain back into the glass.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and tangerine slice if desired.

Notes

Use white rum for a crisp base that lets the citrus shine. If using bottled tangerine juice, reduce the simple syrup. Don't over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. For a lighter drink, reduce the rum and add more club soda.
