Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small pot
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Mason jar or tall glass
  • Straw

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sweet potato cooked and peeled
  • 1 cup milk or non-dairy milk almond or oat are great
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • ice cubes optional
  • whipped cream optional, for topping
  • extra cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook sweet potato (boil 15 min or microwave 5–7 min). Let cool and peel.
  • Blend sweet potato, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  • Add ice cubes and blend again if you want it colder and thicker.
  • Pour into glass or jar. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg if desired. Serve right away with a straw.

Notes

Roast the sweet potato for a richer flavor. Oat milk gives extra creaminess. Use less syrup for a less sweet shake, or honey instead. Chopped nuts on top are great for texture.
