Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 3 fresh strawberries plus 1 for garnish
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • Ice cubes for shaking
  • Lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash and hull the strawberries.
  • Cut them into quarters.
  • Add the cut strawberries to the shaker.
  • Muddle them until they release their juice.
  • Pour in the vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
  • Shake hard for 15 seconds to chill and combine ingredients.
  • Double strain into a chilled coupe glass using both strainers.
  • Garnish with a fresh strawberry and lime wheel.

Notes

The drink tastes best with ripe, fresh strawberries. Frozen strawberries can work in a pinch.
Store-bought simple syrup works well, but making it at home is easy. Mix equal parts sugar and water in a pan, heat until dissolved.
The cocktail should be served immediately while cold and fresh.
Keep leftover simple syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
