Ingredients

  • 1 oz light rum white rum or Captain Morgan
  • 1 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz banana liqueur
  • 1 oz blackberry liqueur
  • 1 oz grenadine
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 5 fresh strawberries
  • banana slices or berries for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Toss fresh strawberries and simple syrup in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in light rum, dark rum, banana liqueur, blackberry liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine, and the strawberry puree.
  • Shake until very cold.
  • Strain into a hurricane glass packed with ice.
  • Float a little dark rum on top if desired, using a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with banana slices, fresh strawberries, or other berries.

Notes

Adjust sweetness by playing with grenadine or simple syrup. For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with ice. Add extra pineapple juice if the drink is too strong. The fresh strawberry puree sets this apart from classic rum runners.
