Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker or mixing glass
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Jigger or measuring spoons
  • Long spoon
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Small cutting board and knife

Ingredients

  • 4-5 fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 6-7 fresh blackberries
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves or basil leaves
  • 1 oz lime juice or lemon juice
  • 1 oz honey simple syrup or plain simple syrup
  • 3-4 oz sparkling water, club soda, or tonic
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add strawberries, blackberries, and mint leaves to a shaker or sturdy glass.
  • Muddle gently until the berries break down and get juicy.
  • Add lime juice (or lemon) and honey simple syrup.
  • Fill with ice and shake well.
  • Strain into a glass with ice (or pour all in for a rustic style).
  • Top with sparkling water, club soda, or tonic. Stir gently.
  • Garnish with extra berries or a mint sprig.

Notes

Adjust syrup to taste depending on berry ripeness. Add more citrus for a tangier mocktail. Freeze berries for use as ice cubes. Mint gives a classic flavor, basil offers a unique twist. Tonic makes it sharper; sparkling water keeps it light.
