  • Highball glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila (blanco or silver)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz agave syrup
  • 3 fresh strawberries sliced
  • 2-3 basil leaves torn
  • 4-6 oz Topo Chico or other sparkling mineral water
  • ice cubes
  • extra basil leaf and strawberry slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Toss the strawberries and basil into a shaker.
  • Muddle gently until the fruit gets juicy and the basil smells amazing.
  • Add tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake it for about 10 seconds.
  • Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with Topo Chico or your favorite sparkling mineral water.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a basil leaf and a strawberry slice.

Notes

Topo Chico is recommended for long-lasting bubbles, but any sparkling mineral water will work. For a lighter drink, use 1½ oz tequila or skip the agave to cut sweetness. Extra basil gives more herbal flavor. Use ripe strawberries for best taste. Chill tequila and lime juice before mixing for extra coldness.
