Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Rocks or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Irish whiskey
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice or lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 1 drop green food coloring optional
  • 1 egg white optional, for foam
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • mint sprig or lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Optional: Add egg white to the shaker first for a foamy texture.
  • Add Irish whiskey, fresh lime (or lemon) juice, simple syrup, and one drop of green food coloring.
  • If using egg white, dry shake (no ice) for 10 seconds. Add ice and shake again for 12–15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Double strain into a chilled rocks or coupe glass. Garnish with mint or a lime wheel. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh citrus for the brightest flavor. Adjust sweetness with more or less syrup. Skip the coloring for a classic look, or substitute lemon juice for a slightly softer sour.
