Equipment

  • Large pitcher (2-quart or larger)
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer (optional)
  • Long spoon
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)
  • Wine glasses or mason jars
  • Ice cube tray (for frozen grape “eyeballs”)

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle 750ml red wine (Pinot Noir, Garnacha, or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • ¼ cup brandy blackberry or regular
  • ¼ cup triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 to 1½ cups apple cider or cranberry juice
  • ½ cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 orange sliced into rounds
  • 1 apple chopped (red, green, or black)
  • ½ cup blackberries fresh or frozen
  • ½ cup black grapes halved
  • 1 plum sliced (optional)
  • 2 –3 cinnamon sticks
  • ¼ cup simple syrup or to taste
  • 1 cup ginger ale or sparkling water add just before serving
  • Frozen grapes or blackberries for garnish
  • Optional: splash of raspberry liqueur bourbon, or Italian soda for extra kick

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher, combine red wine, brandy, triple sec, juices, and simple syrup.
  • Stir in sliced oranges, chopped apples, blackberries, grapes, plum slices, and cinnamon sticks.
  • Cover and chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours (overnight for best flavor).
  • Just before serving, add the ginger ale or sparkling water and stir gently.
  • Garnish glasses with frozen grapes or blackberries to create a spooky “eyeball” effect.
  • Serve over ice and make sure each glass gets some fruit!
