Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 –2 teaspoons food-grade activated charcoal powder or black food coloring
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup or honey/agave, to taste
  • 1/2 cup cranberry or pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup grape juice black grape preferred
  • 1 tablespoon lime or blood orange juice
  • 1/4 cup pineapple or orange juice optional for brightness
  • 1/2 cup club soda sparkling water, or ginger ale
  • Handful of fresh blackberries mashed
  • Ice cubes or frozen berries
  • Garnishes: gummy worms lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, plastic spiders (optional)
  • Dry ice optional, for visual effect — do not ingest

Instructions

Juice the citrus

  • Squeeze fresh lemon and lime (or blood orange) juice into a large pitcher.

Add color

  • Stir in activated charcoal powder or a few drops of black food coloring until the lemonade turns a spooky dark black.

Mix the base

  • Pour in cranberry juice, grape juice, and a splash of pineapple or orange juice. Stir well.

Sweeten it

  • Add simple syrup, honey, or agave to taste. Stir until combined.

Add fizz

  • Slowly pour in sparkling water, club soda, or ginger ale. Stir gently to keep the bubbles.

Add berries

  • Lightly mash blackberries and add them to the pitcher or individual glasses.

Serve

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes or frozen berries. Pour in the black lemonade.

Garnish & smoke (optional)

  • Add spooky garnishes like gummy worms or a cinnamon stick. Drop a small piece of dry ice into each glass right before serving for a dramatic smoky effect.
