Equipment

  • Rocks or lowball glass
  • Shot glass or jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Small whisk or fork
  • Squeeze bottle or plastic bag with a snipped corner
  • Small bowl
  • Toothpick (for spider web design)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur like Kahlúa
  • 1 oz heavy cream for the drink
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream + ½ tsp lemon juice for the spider web
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: black or purple food coloring

Instructions

  • Fill your glass about ¾ full with ice.
  • Pour in vodka and coffee liqueur. Stir gently to chill.
  • Slowly pour 1 oz cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top.
  • In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp heavy cream with ½ tsp lemon juice. Let it sit for 1–2 minutes to thicken.
  • Add a drop or two of food coloring to the thickened cream if desired.
  • Transfer the thickened cream to a squeeze bottle or plastic bag with the tip snipped.
  • Pipe a spiral on the surface of the cream.
  • Drag a toothpick from the center outward to form the spider web design.
  • Serve immediately before the web sinks or melts into the drink.
