  • Ice cubes
  • Grapefruit wedge and jalapeño slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Rim a highball glass with lime juice and Tajín or chili-lime salt.
  • Add jalapeño slices to a shaker and muddle gently to release oils.
  • Pour vodka, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup into the shaker.
  • Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
  • Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice.
  • Double strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and jalapeño slice.

Notes

The spice level can be adjusted by changing the amount of jalapeño or muddling time. For less heat, remove seeds before muddling.
Fresh-squeezed juice makes a big difference in taste compared to bottled juice.
Make it a mocktail by skipping the vodka and adding more club soda.
The drink can be prepared up to 4 hours ahead without the club soda. Add club soda just before serving.
