Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Muddler
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Blender (optional for frozen version)
  • Margarita or rocks glasses
  • Salt for rimming (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec or Cointreau
  • 3 oz fresh mango puree about 1 ripe mango
  • ¾ oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 3-4 thin slices of jalapeño seeds removed for milder heat
  • Ice cubes
  • For garnish: lime wheel mango slice, jalapeño ring
  • For rim: salt mixed with tajin optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Dip in salt or tajin if you're feeling it. Set aside.
  • Muddle the jalapeño: Put jalapeño slices in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle to release the oils and spice.
  • Add remaining ingredients: Pour in the tequila, triple sec, mango puree, lime juice, and agave nectar.
  • Shake well: Add ice to the shaker, secure the lid, and shake hard for 15-20 seconds until it's nice and cold.
  • Strain and serve: Double-strain through a fine mesh strainer into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish: Add a lime wheel, mango slice, and jalapeño ring to the rim. Looks good, right?

Notes

This recipe is super flexible. Want more heat? Leave in some jalapeño seeds or toss in another slice.
Prefer it mild? Remove all the seeds and stick with just 1-2 slices. Easy fix.
Make-ahead tip: You can prep the mango puree a day or two ahead. Just blend fresh mango chunks until smooth and stash in the fridge.
If you're skipping alcohol, swap the tequila for more mango puree and add a splash of orange juice instead of triple sec.
Tajin on the rim is optional, but it adds this extra zing—kind of tangy, salty, and spicy all at once. It just fits with the whole vibe.
