Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or jar with lid)
  • Jigger or small measuring cup
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp knife
  • Strainer
  • Highball glass or collins glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice cubes
  • Small plate for salt or Tajín

Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila or silver tequila
  • 1-2 slices fresh jalapeño add more for extra spice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4-6 oz Topo Chico or sparkling mineral water
  • ice cubes
  • lime wedge for garnish
  • Tajín or coarse salt for rimming, optional
  • mezcal optional swap for smoky flavor

Instructions

  • Rim your glass with lime juice, then dip it in salt or Tajín if desired.
  • Add a few ice cubes to the glass.
  • In your shaker, mix together tequila, lime juice, and jalapeño slices.
  • Shake gently for about 10–15 seconds to blend flavors.
  • Strain the mix into your prepared glass over ice.
  • Top with sparkling mineral water like Topo Chico.
  • Stir lightly to mix everything.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge or extra jalapeño slice if desired.

Notes

Start with one slice of jalapeño and add more to taste. Use blanco tequila for a clean base or mezcal for smoke. Always use fresh lime juice and serve cold for best bubbles and balance.
