I make this cocktail for gatherings when I want something easy to serve but full of flavor.
The right equipment helps, the ingredients are easy to find, and the steps are simple enough that I don’t have to overthink it.
0.5cupsimple syrupequal parts water and sugar, mixed until dissolved
1cupginger ale or club soda
Sliced orangeslemons, and limes (for garnish)
Fresh pineapple wedgesoptional
Ice cubes
Instructions
Chill all juices, ginger ale, and rum before mixing.
In a large punch bowl or pitcher, combine spiced rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Stir well with a long spoon.
Add plenty of ice to the bowl or pitcher.
Top with ginger ale or club soda. Gently stir to combine.
Add fruit slices and pineapple wedges for garnish.
Use a ladle to serve the punch into glasses with extra ice.
Notes
I prefer using a high-quality spiced rum for richer flavor. If I have time, I chill the punch bowl and glasses in the fridge before serving. For parties, I prepare the punch base in advance and add ginger ale right before guests arrive. If I want a non-alcoholic version, I skip the rum and add more juice and soda. For extra spice, I sometimes toss in a few cinnamon sticks or star anise. This recipe serves about 6-8 people. If I’m making it for a larger group, I just double or triple everything. I always remind guests to enjoy responsibly if alcohol is in the mix.
