Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cocktail shaker or large jar with lid
  • Small saucepan
  • Fine mesh strainer or sieve
  • Stirring spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Serving glasses
  • Ice cubes
  • Peeler or small knife

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pear juice 100% juice preferred
  • 1 tablespoon honey add more if desired
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 inch fresh ginger sliced
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • ice cubes
  • pear slices for garnish
  • cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  • Add pear juice, honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, and fresh ginger to a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat until steaming (don’t boil), stirring to dissolve honey and blend flavors.
  • Let cool for about 10 minutes, then strain out ginger and cinnamon bits.
  • Fill shaker or jar with ice and pour in cooled spiced pear mix.
  • Add sparkling water or club soda and gently shake or stir.
  • Strain into glasses with fresh ice. Garnish with pear slices and cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pear juice can be homemade or store-bought. Maple syrup works instead of honey. For more spice, add extra ginger or cinnamon. Adjust sweetness to taste and enjoy right after making so it stays fizzy.
