Add cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger, star anise, nutmeg, allspice, and maple syrup.
Heat over low to medium heat for 10 minutes without boiling.
Stir in orange juice.
Remove from heat and strain if desired.

Notes
Use honey instead of maple syrup for a lighter sweetness. For more spice, simmer the cider longer before adding bourbon. Reduce bourbon to 1 oz for a milder drink.
