  • 0.75 oz simple syrup or honey syrup to taste
  • 0.5 oz apple cider unsweetened preferred
  • 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 dash ground star anise or 1 small star anise pod
  • cinnamon stick for garnish
  • apple slice optional, for garnish
  • fresh thyme optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Add gin, lemon juice, syrup, apple cider, ground cinnamon, fresh ginger, and star anise to a cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for about 15 seconds, until well chilled.
  • Strain into a rocks or coupe glass with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick, apple slice, and a sprig of thyme if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Try lime juice instead of lemon for a twist, or swap in honey syrup for extra warmth. Mix ground cinnamon with syrup to avoid clumping. Use unsweetened apple cider to keep the drink balanced. Chilling the glass keeps the cocktail crisp. Serve with mild snacks to highlight the spices.
